The Trans Calendar

It’s about time we had a trans calendar. For many years, there’s been great ambivalence over the only two “official” trans holidays on the queer calendar: Trans Day of Visibility and Trans Day of Remembrance. While these holidays have served us as important vigils and beacons, two days of observance are not enough to round out the spiritual contours of trans life. That's why Rena Yehuda Newman has created the Trans Calendar: Trans Days of Observance. In this calendar, you'll find trans holidays for all 365 days of the year.

What is the purpose of a calendar? Not only to help us keep track of the days but to guide us through the cycle of time. A useful calendar contains sets of spiritual, social, and personal movements that we choreograph each year. Yet each time we return to these holidays (or holy days), we’re new people, with one more year informing how we experience these ritual acts. To observe a holiday again and again is to experience transformation over a wide expanse of time.
